General Information

The University of Lodz, established in 1945, is one of the leading institutions of higher education in Poland. The 12 faculties of the University provide programmes in 60 fields of study and 170 specializations. In addition, the University offers several doctoral programmes, more than 90 postgraduate study programmes, as well as studies in English and French. Currently, more than 45,000 students of all levels attend the University of Lodz.

The students come from about 70 different countries. In this truly international atmosphere everyone can experience the cultural diversity of both the city and the institution. The interest in studying at the University of Lodz is determined not only by high quality of instruction but also by modern programmes of study adapted to the changing demands of labour market. The University treats international cooperation as a way to foster its development and continue city’s tradition. Our institution regularly hosts guest speakers, renowned politicians, businessmen and cultural representatives from Poland and abroad and also actively participates in many international educational and research programmes. The University is repeatedly ranked among the top higher education institutions in Poland, and it especially excels in such fields of study as management, law and economics.

The University of Lodz boasts the oldest and most recognized School of Polish for Foreigners that has educated over 20,000 students since 1952. The University Library is one of the biggest and most modern academic libraries in Poland. At present, its total collection amounts to 3 million volumes. The University Campus offers modern rooms within walking distance from most faculties. The University provides access to a state-of-the-art Sports Centre. Apart from abundant opportunities for social life, the students can join about 120 societies, scientific clubs, associations and other academic organizations, including Erasmus Student Network and International Buddy Student Network.

BA, MA and PhD programs in Polish are held at the University’s 12 Faculties. There are also BA and MA programs taught in English. The latest top three picks are: Economics, Computer Science and International Marketing, but we have a lot more including Business Management, Management and Finance and Asian Studies at a BA level; English Studies and Political Management at an MA level).

Language requirements

The University of Lodz accepts any proof of language – the required level of English is B2 for undergraduate and master, C1 for Phd, Post-doc and academic staff. For administrative staff communicative English is sufficient. Possible proof: provisional test provided by the LA partner, a statement from the relevant professor stating that the candidate has the required level of the language or proof that (part of) the previous schooling was in English. Skype calls are considered an option depending on the number of candidates.
